Google Ad Grants gives eligible nonprofits up to $10,000 a month in free Google search ads. Used well, it brings donors, volunteers and people who need your services to your website.
Who can apply
You need valid charitable status in your country (in the US, a 501(c)(3)) and a Google for Nonprofits account. Google does not offer Ad Grants to government entities, hospitals and healthcare organizations, or schools and universities, which have separate programs. Check Google’s current eligibility rules before you apply.
Get your website ready first
Google reviews your website as part of the application. It should be secure (HTTPS), load properly, and clearly explain your mission and programs with real content, not just a donate page. The free Website Checkup flags the most common gaps.
How to apply
- Sign up for Google for Nonprofits and wait for your organization to be verified.
- From your Google for Nonprofits account, activate Google Ad Grants and follow the steps to create your ads account.
- Build campaigns around what people search for: your services, your cause and your city.
Keep the grant
Google sets ongoing account rules, such as minimum ad quality and monthly activity. Log in at least once a month, pause ads that don’t perform and keep your website current.
See how your site does: run the free Website Checkup. It takes about ten seconds.
